Second Sunday of Lent: The Transfiguration
On this Second Sunday of Lent, we stand with Peter, James, and John on the mountain of the Transfiguration. Gazing upon the glory of Jesus Christ, Peter says, “Lord, it is good that we are here.”
In moments of prayer and grace, we understand those words. It is good to be in the Lord’s presence. Yet the mountain is not the destination — it is preparation. The light of Christ strengthens us for the journey of Lent and the road to the Cross.
In his Lenten message, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that Lent is a time to be renewed in hope and to listen more deeply to the Lord. As we encounter Christ in Word and Eucharist, may we be transformed by His light and carry that light into the world.
Lord, it is good that we are here. And strengthened by Your presence, help us to follow You faithfully toward Easter.
